Queen's Gaels football season tickets on sale now

After nearly two years away and the canceled 2020 OUA season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Queen's Gaels football team is returning to Richardson Stadium in September.

The Gaels are thrilled that a limited number of fans will be allowed to attend home games this season. Season tickets can be purchased now at gogaelsgo.com/tickets. Single-game tickets go on sale Wednesday, Sept. 1.

"Everyone here at Queen's, including our fans, supporters and alumni are excited about the return of football being right around the corner," said Steve Snyder, Head Coach, Football. "The student-athletes are the true winners. We are so happy for them to be able to return to competition and team building this fall."

The 2021 OUA football schedule has been condensed from the usual eight-game slate to six games, with Queen's hosting three regular season games this year starting Saturday, Sept. 25.

Every day our excitement grows to return to what we love doing the most, playing football in the OUA," said Richard Burton, Gaels receiver. "That excitement is only heightened by the fact that we once again get to run into Richardson Stadium with the best fans in the nation seated in the stands. See you on Sept. 25th."

The Ottawa GeeGees come to town for the Sept. 25th home opener, 3 p.m. at Richardson Stadium.

The Gaels return home two weeks later for the only night game of the regular season at Richardson Stadium, Friday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. against the Guelph Gryphons.

And Queen's finishes off their home schedule at Richardson Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m., with a visit from the Carleton Ravens.

"I grew up watching Queen's football. My parents met at Queen's and my brother and I are also alumni, so you could say it's in my DNA. I'm so happy to be able to return to our fall tradition of football at Richardson Stadium," said life-long Gaels fan Sue Bates, who has been a season-ticket holder for the past 10 years.

"I absolutely love cheering on my beloved Gaels and I can't wait to get back to Richardson Stadium to do just that. The anticipation of game day, the atmosphere at the stadium, watching the players come out of the tunnel? Magic. Absolute magic.

"I have missed Queen's football and I can't wait for that first home game. I know I will be emotional when I first step back through those gates at Richardson but I am so excited to see my Gaels back on the field. Let's go!"

"For me getting back to football means we are finally getting back to more normal things. I am a public health nurse so this past year has been challenging to say the least," said Gaels Peter Bearse, who has been a Gaels football season ticket holder the past eight years and has been going to games at Richardson Stadium with his wife since his first year as a Queen's student in 2002.

"This year has been anything but normal. Through all the overtime and extra weekend shifts, I have told everyone that, 'I just want to go to a Queen's football game' because that would mean we are closer to normal. Finally seeing the Gaels take the field on a crisp fall day will be like the breath of fresh air that I have been working towards for over a year."

Queen's Athletics & Recreation will follow the provincial guidelines for seating and spectators. As we expect regulations to change before the season starts, we are not able to confirm the spectator plan at this time.
