Updated vaccination requirements (Effective Feb. 28, 2022) – Enhanced Vaccination Certification with a QR Code AND Level 2 Medical-Grade Masks (or better)
- Commencing February 11, the ARC will be using scanners and the Verify Ontario app to check QR Codes on enhanced vaccine certificates as a component of entry for those using the facility or attending varsity sporting events.
- Facility users or spectators who do not have a valid QR Code should take the necessary steps to obtain one as soon as possible. Ontario residents can access their proof of vaccination at this link: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/get-proof/
- Facility users and spectators continue to be required to show the following to gain access:
- Government issued confirmation of vaccination with QR Code (must include name and date of vaccinations received and the type of vaccine)
- Proof of ID (must include name and birthdate)
- Completed SeQure App or Q Game Day Check-In for spectators
- Complete enhanced symptom screening at check-in
- Effective February 28, those who do not have an enhanced vaccination certificate with a valid QR Code will not be permitted into the ARC.
- Individuals who reside outside of Canada and do not have access to a QR Code from their home jurisdiction or country that can be successfully scanned by the Verify Ontario app must show the following documentation to gain entry:
- Valid non-Canadian Passport (or NEXUS Card)
- Government issued vaccine documentation that meets the definition of fully vaccinated and be at least 14 days from their last dose of the vaccine
- Visitors on an extended stay should apply to KFL&A for verification on how to obtain an Ontario QR version of the vaccine certificate. See link here to apply.
- Masks continue to be required at ALL times within the ARC, including during physical activities or while attending a sporting event.
- A&R strongly encourages those using the ARC or attending sporting events to wear an ASTM F2100 Level 2 medical-grade masks (or better) within the facility.
- Effective February 28, the University requires all facility users and spectators to use ASTM Level 2 medical-grade masks (or better) at all times within the ARC, when engaged in A&R programs or when attending sporting events.
- After February 28, individuals wearing cloth masks will not be permitted entry or participation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are all members of the public required to be fully vaccinated to attend Queen's sporting events?
- Yes. Queen's University has a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy and requirements for all individuals (students, staff, faculty, contractors, and visitors) participating in university activities in person, on properties owned, leased, rented or otherwise used by Queen's. Queen's will also comply with provincial regulations governing sport and recreation facilities and sporting events.
- Spectators will be asked to confirm they are fully vaccinated (ALL individuals entering the ARC must have a valid photo ID with birthdate and Enhanced Vaccination Certification with a valid QR Code). Effective Feb. 28, those who do not have an Enhanced Vaccination Certification with a QR code will not be granted entry.
- Spectators will also be required to complete a COVID-19 screening questionnaire and agree to comply with all Queen's University Health and Safety Protocols via the Q Game Day Check In form.
Do I have to wear a mask at sporting events? Can I take it off in my seat?
- Spectators must always properly wear face coverings while at any Queen's sporting event.
- Spectators are strongly encouraged to wear a Level 2 medical-grade mask (or better) when attending a Queen's sporting event.
- Effective Feb. 28, ALL individuals entering the ARC and/or other venue(s) used for A&R programs (on/off campus) are required to use Level 2 medical-grade masks (or better) to access the facility. Individuals wearing cloth masks will not be permitted entry.
Is the Q Game Day Check In a requirement for all Queen's sporting events?
- Yes, members of the public coming to watch a Queen's sporting event must sign in using the Q Game Day Check In process that will be on posted signage at the venue via QR Code for those arriving at Queen's venues on the day of the game. Those who have reserved tickets in advance will receive a link to the form via email to be completed prior to arrival at the venue for an expedited check-in process.
What do I have to show for admission to games?
- Members of the public attending events will be required to show their:
- Enhanced Vaccination Certification with valid QR Code and photo ID with birthdate.
Those who do not have an Enhanced Vaccination Certification will not be permitted entry as of Feb. 28, 2022.
- Completed Q Game Day Check In verification.
- Their season ticket credential, mobile ticket, or printed ticket PDF, where applicable.
- ALL individuals are required to use Level 2 medical-grade masks (or better) to access venues used for A&R programs (on/off campus).
- Effective Feb. 28, 2022, those with a cloth mask will not be permitted entry.
How do I get tickets?
Those looking to attend a sporting event are encouraged to head to
www.gogaelsgo.com/tickets to reserve their seats for Football, Basketball, Hockey and Volleyball this season once they are available for sale.
Currently, Gaels sporting events are being held with a maximum capacity of 500 spectators. Capacity adjustments will be made in line with public health directives and communicated accordingly.
- Football single game tickets will go on sale one week before each home game.
- Those attending events where tickets are not distributed will be required to show their provincial vaccination receipt and photo ID (ALL individuals entering the ARC must have a valid Enhanced Vaccination Certification with a QR Code to gain entry, effective Feb. 28, 2022) and completed Q Game Day Check In verification.
Do Queen's students get free tickets to the game?
- All full time AMS and SGPS Queen's students remain eligible for free tickets to Football, Basketball, Hockey and Volleyball games. Tickets are not required to attend other sporting events. Please see www.gogaelsgo.com/studenttickets for details on how to reserve your tickets. Student cards will no longer be accepted as tickets.
What if the game gets cancelled due to COVID protocols? Will I get a refund?
- Those who have paid for tickets to attend a game that is not able to take place due to COVID protocols will either be issued a credit towards tickets for the rescheduled date of the game or receive a refund if the game is cancelled.
Can my child (12 and Under) go to the game with me?
- Children 12 and under are permitted to attend games if accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult and seated in a socially distanced section with members of their household. Adults supervising children in attendance will need to complete the Q Game Day Check In form on behalf of their child.
Will the seats be socially distanced?
- All Queen's sporting venues are operating at reduced capacity for the 2021-22 season.
- Events with reserved seating will be physically distanced in select sections and reserved for groups of two to five.
- If you are attending a game with a group that does not fit these size criteria, please contact our customer service team at custserv@queensu.ca.
- General admission events and general admission sections at reserved seating events will be offered at reduced capacity to ensure physical distancing.
Will there be sanitizing stations at sporting events this year?
- Sanitizing stations will be available throughout Queen's indoor venues and stadiums. Fans are also encouraged to bring their own sanitization products for convenient use throughout the game.
