Kingston, Ont. (May 29, 2024) – Maddie Walker-Byron has been named Head Coach of Queen's Artistic Swimming ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Walker-Byron is entering their second season with the club after helping Queen's finish fourth in the country with the expert team in 2023-24.
"I am extremely excited for this opportunity to lead Queen's Artistic Swimming for the 2024-25 season," Walker-Byron said. "I hope to uphold the Queen's Artistic Swimming culture, while striving for excellence with our student-athletes in and out of the pool."
Walker-Byron had a successful career as an athlete in artistic swimming. Walker-Byron competed for four years on an athletic scholarship with the University of the Incarnate Word in the NCAA, competing in the duet, trio, and team competitions, and graduated as a four-time honorary All-American, MVP, and team captain.
Prior to their time in the NCAA, Walker-Byron competed at the club level, swimming with Gloucester Synchro, the Granite Club, and Aretaic Synchro, where they earned multiple national championships and was a membern of the 13-15 Canadian National team and the Junior Canadian National team.
