KINGSTON, Ont. (March 5, 2025) – The OUA recognized two Queen's Women's Basketball stars for their outstanding performances this season, with
Katrina Renon earning Second Team All-Star honours and
Brooke Hussey being named to the All-Rookie Team.
Renon (Arts & Science) played a crucial role in Queen's success, establishing herself as one of the top two-way players in the conference.
"Kat catapulted into an offensive and defensive force for our team. Her versatility made her a three-level scoring threat" said Queen's Head Coach
Claire Meadows. "She led our team in scoring, field-goal percentage and three-point field-goal percentage, as well as rebounding and blocks. Being named a second team OUA all-star is a huge accomplishment for Kat - her future is very bright!"
Renon averaged 12.9 points per game while shooting 83% from the free-throw line, ranking tenth in the country. Defensively, the second-year forward recorded 189 rebounds, the sixth-most in the OUA.
Hussey (Kinesiology), who was also named OUA Rookie of the Year, secured a spot on the OUA All-Rookie Team.
The first-year point guard had their presence felt on both ends of the court, leading all OUA rookies with 53 assists, while averaging 11.3 points per game and picking up 106 total rebounds.
Queen's closed out the regular season with a 15-7 record, securing a spot in the OUA playoffs. After downing the Waterloo Warriors in the opening round, the Gaels came up short to the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the Quarterfinals.
