Field Hockey
The Queen's field hockey team visited the University of Toronto this weekend to play Toronto, McGill and York. On Saturday, the Gaels faced the home team, the University of Toronto, hungry for a win.

The Gaels came out with high-intensity and tested the Toronto defence. Evenly matched across the field, Queen's had quality chances, but Toronto came away with a one goal win in the second half.

Early Sunday morning, Queen's met McGill for the second time this season. In the 7th minute of play, McGill scored the first goal of the game from a penalty corner. The Gaels responded before the half as second year Mairead Corrigan scored an unassisted goal, followed by another Queen's goal from Leigh Janssen – her first of three more to come in. Queen's came out strong in the second half. Rookie Isabelle Mastantuono scored on a penalty corner at 57 minutes followed by Janssen's second goal of the game at 59 minutes. Captain Ciara Morrison scored in the 67th minute and finally Janssen scored her third goal of the game to finish the game at 69 minutes. The final score was 6-1 for Queen's over McGill.

The last game of the weekend was against top of the table York Lions. Queen's came out with intensity and a strong game plan. Unfortunately, a player down for five minutes gave York the opportunity to put 2 goals away. The score was 2-0 at half time. Queen's persisted and scored one goal in the second half. During a tough, physical game, the score finished 4-1 for the Lions.

Next up, the Gaels travel to Waterloo to face off against the York Lions again, and will see action against the Western Mustangs.

Golf
The Queen's men's and women's varsity golf teams were in action this past weekend at the Waterloo/Laurier Invitational.

Following day one, the Gaels women's team made up the ten-stroke difference to make the comeback and finish on the podium with a bronze medal. Leading the way was Robyn Campbell who shot a final round of 75 (+3) to also secure an individual silver medal. First year players Jacquie Miller and Jasmine Mussani finished with great rounds of 82 (+10) and 87 (+15), respectively, and Sierra Singh finished with a final round of 94. The women's team has medaled in all three events that they have competed in this year and are looking for another podium finish at the Toronto University Invitational at Angus Glen Golf Club this upcoming weekend.

The men's team had a difficult start to their tournament at Rebel Creek Golf Club on Saturday. However, the team came together on Sunday at Grey Silo Golf Club to best the rest of the field that day by seven-strokes as they finished Even as a team. Leading Sunday scoring for the Gaels was Trevor Corner, who shot an outstanding 67 (-4), followed by Jeremy Rose with a great round of 70 (-1). Other players who contributed to Sunday's strong performance were Ian Wilson (73, +2), Chris Murray (74, +3), and Myles Killackey (76, +5).

Like the women's side, the men's team is also back in action this weekend at the Toronto University Invitational at Angus Glen Golf Club.

Women's Lacrosse
The Gaels women's lacrosse team travelled to Guelph this weekend for a Saturday afternoon game against Guelph and a Sunday game against Laurier.

Against Guelph, the Gaels came out to a quick 6-0 lead with a balanced attack including six different scorers. Queen's took a 9-3 lead into the half, and came out strong again in the second half scoring three unanswered and finishing 16-6. Leading the way offensively were seniors Alexa Fenton (2G,1A) and AJ Lockhard (2G,1A), freshman Annie Lloyd (2G,1A), Emily Arkell (2G,1A) and Kiah Shanks (2G).

Sunday's matchup against Laurier was a back-and-forth affair. The Gaels opened the scoring, followed by two unanswered by Laurier. Down 6-5 with seconds left in the game, the Gaels were unable to convert an opportunity to tie the game. The tricolour opened the second half with three straight goals and never looked back, outscoring Laurier 7-2 in the second half. The 12-8 win was paced by Kiah Shanks, who scored 5 goals, Annie Lloyd (2G), senior Sam French (1G,1A) and freshman Camryn Kelly (2G). Amelia Piccone had 1 assist on the day, however, was a force on loose balls and transition the entire weekend.

Up next, the Gaels women's lacrosse team host UOIT and York on Saturday at Miklas-McCarney Field.
