Queen's Field Hockey is pleased to welcome Liam Manning to its coaching staff ahead of the 2026 season.
Manning brings a diverse background in field hockey to the Gaels, with experience as both a player and coach at the club, provincial, university, national and international levels. He joins head coach Rachelle Seguin and assistant coach Clarke DeSouza as the program prepares for the upcoming season.
Manning was introduced to field hockey at the age of 13 and grew up playing with the Nepean Nighthawks. His playing career quickly progressed through the provincial and national levels, competing in three Ontario Summer Games in 2008, 2010 and 2012 and at the U16 National Championships in 2012. He later returned to the Ontario Summer Games as a coach in 2016.
His international career began in December 2012, when he represented Canada in a U17 series against the United States. In February 2014, Manning competed at the Youth Pan American Championships in Puerto Rico, where Canada qualified for the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China.
Manning went on to represent Canada at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games, helping the team capture a silver medal.
While his international playing career provided valuable experience, Manning found a particular passion for coaching. During his fourth year at Wilfrid Laurier University, he served as an assistant coach with the Laurier field hockey program, an experience that became a highlight of his coaching career.
He has continued to develop as a coach through opportunities with the Ontario Summer Games and at the national level, including coaching the U15 Girls East Ontario Team at the 2019 National Championships.
Having recently relocated to Kingston, he now joins the Queen's program with a strong combination of playing experience, coaching knowledge and a passion for athlete development.
With his extensive experience across the sport and a coaching philosophy shaped by years on both sides of the game, Manning will be a valuable addition to the Gaels coaching staff.
Queen's Field Hockey looks forward to welcoming Manning to the Gaels family and to his contributions alongside Seguin and DeSouza throughout the 2026 season.
