Each season valuable lessons are learned and new heroes emerge as the eyes of Queen's veterans look upon them… 438 All-time Wins, 385 Conference All-Stars, 242 CFL players, 176 Academic All-Canadians, 82 CIS All-Canadians, 47 Conference Award winners, 30 Conference Championships, 28 CFL 1st Round Picks, 25 CIS Major Awards, 11 Coach of the Year Awards and 8 National Championships.
By researching Gael Force, Tri-colour yearbooks, archives and available team photos, Queen's football is taking a look back at the most prominent jersey numbers by comparison from decade to decade – a passing of the torch, a legacy of excellence.
One of the hurdles has been finding accurate numbers for the “Old Boys” Johnny Evans, Orrin Carson and Frank ”Pep” Leadlay, also some of the legends changed numbers a few times during their careers - Cal Connor (#17 and #61), Bill Surphlis (#64, #66), Ron Stewart (#45, #55, #75), Kent Plumley (#52, #62, #70) Gary Lewis (#21, #59, #70).
Did you know? - #8 has been worn by the most team captains (6), #21 worn by the most All-Canadians (7) and #25 was worn by the most MVP's (6).
