Pratt and Crisan qualify for Canadian Rowing Team

Victoria, B.C. (July 21, 2008) Queen's University rowers Rares Crisan and Nick Pratt, both of Kingston, Ont. have been named to the Canadian team that will compete in the world rowing championships in Linz/Ottensheim, Austria from July 22 to 27, 2008.

Crisan and Pratt will be members of the lightweight men's eight (LM8+) crew which includes Brandon Boyd and Kurtis Boyd, of Brockville, Guthrie Hurd of Simon Fraser, B.C., Paul Amesbury of Ottawa, Terry McKall, Tim Myers and Mark Laidlaw all from Victoria, B.C. Laidlaw will act as the crew's Cox.

This is Pratt's third consecutive appearance in a Canadian uniform, the last two as a member of Canada's U23 lightweight men's four.

In an Olympic year, the World Rowing Championships are combined with the World Rowing Junior Championships and include entries in non-Olympic boat classes only at the senior level.
