Queen's Women's Hockey returns home to Memorial Centre Arena, for a Friday night contest against the Laurier Golden Hawks.

The Gaels came out flying in the opening frame, setting the tone early. Taya Leonard (Kinesiology) opened the scoring just 3:35 into the first period, burying a setup from Carys Collie (Life Sciences) and Taylor Eastwood (Commerce) to give Queen's the 1–0 lead. The Gaels showed strong defensive structure, especially on the penalty kill, battling hard and keeping Laurier off the board through twenty minutes.

In the second, Laurier found the equalizer midway through the frame as a loose puck trickled past Tennant to make it 1–1. The Gaels answered back on a delayed 5-on-3 power play, when Sophie Hudson (Chemical Engineering) buried a rebound to restore the lead, assisted by Scarlett Nowakowski (Commerce) and Melissa Parton (Arts & Sciences). Queen continued to press, and Nowakowski struck again moments later, firing a shot from the point to capitalize on the remaining power play time, set up by Hudson and Parton, extending the lead to 3–1. Laurier responded seconds later, cutting the deficit to 3–2 heading into the final frame.

The Gaels were held off the scoresheet in the third, while Laurier found the equalizer with under five minutes remaining to send the game to overtime.

After a scoreless extra frame, the game went to a shootout where Emma Tennant (Mechanical Engineering) shut the door, stopping every Laurier attempt. Mikayla Cranney (Arts & Sciences) sealed the win as the shootout hero, scoring the lone goal to secure the victory. With the win, the Gaels remain perfect on home ice, improving to 4-0-0 at the Memorial Centre.

Come support Queen's Women's Hockey back on home ice tomorrow, November 7th at 4:30 PM! Student tickets available at gogaelsgo.com.
