Jada Wood from Queen's Women's Hockey was named the Women's Sports Alfie Pierce Trophy recipient for the 2025-26 season at the Queen's Athletics & Recreation Colour Awards banquet on Wednesday night.
The Alfie Pierce Trophy is awarded annually to honour a Women's Sports student-athlete on Varsity Teams who have contributed the most to athletics in their first year at Queen's.
Wood (Arts & Science) was named the U SPORTS and OUA Rookie of the Year for Women's Hockey, as well as to the U SPORTS and OUA All-Rookie teams for the 2025-26 season.
Wood finished the season first among rookies in both scoring and assists. Wood had 20 goals and 13 assists on the season, to go along with her seven goals.
"Jada had an outstanding season and quickly established herself as one of the most impactful players in the OUA, leading all rookies in league scoring - an incredible accomplishment in her first year," said Queen's Women's Hockey Head Coach
Morgan McHaffie. "She earned significant minutes from day one, playing on our top line and proving herself to be a true two-way player who competes just as hard in the defensive zone as she does offensively."
