Queen's Women's Hockey's Sophie Hudson named U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian, Jada Wood named to U SPORTS All-Rookie Team

Queen's Women's Hockey had two players honoured at the U SPORTS Women's Hockey All-Canadian Awards banquet Wednesday night in Waterloo, Ont.

The Gaels' Sophie Hudson was named a U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian while Jada Wood was named to the U SPORTS All-Rookie Team. Wood was also named the U SPORTS Rookie of the Year.

Hudson (Chemical Engineering) led the Gaels and the OUA in both points and assists, finishing the season with 31 points and 18 assists. Hudson also had 13 goals on the season, including three game-winners, in helping Queen's finish first in the OUA East Division standings.

"I'm incredibly proud of Sophie for earning this recognition and truly saving her best season for last," said Queen's Women's Hockey Head Coach Morgan McHaffie. "This honour speaks to the competitor and leader she is, especially after facing a very difficult mid-season injury, her perseverance, determination, and mental toughness allowed her to continue making a tremendous impact both on and off the ice while inspiring everyone around her."

Wood (Arts & Science) finished the season first among rookies in both scoring and assists. Wood had 20 goals and 13 assists on the season, to go along with her seven goals.

"Jada earning a spot on the All-Rookie Team is a special honour and reflection of the incredible season she had," said McHaffie. "She led the OUA and USports in rookie scoring and plays such a complete game, contributing in all areas of the ice. I look forward to seeing her continue to have a significant impact in the years ahead."
