BOX SCORE Quarterback
James Keenan threw for 176 yards and a touchdown and the Queen's Football defence held the Ottawa Gee-Gees to just three points in the second half as Queen's defeated Ottawa 26-16 Saturday night in Ottawa, Ont. to improve their record to 2-0 on the season.
The Gaels waited out two weather delays and outscored the Gee-Gees 20-3 in the second half for the 10-point win.
"Really proud of our team for going on the road and getting a tough win," said Head Coach
Steve Snyder after the game. "Certainly a number of mistakes by both teams which created a game that stayed wide open for anyone to take right into the fourth quarter. Our team played really tough, we settled in and tackled well, played good defence and established a run game that moved the ball and scored when we needed to. Our place kicking came through big for us in this one. Really proud of our ability to stay steady and play physical for four quarters despite delays and adversity. We have a lot to improve on and need to do so immediately as we have a big challenge ahead of us this week."
Keenan (Ottawa, Ont.) was effective both through the air and on the ground for Queen's in the win, adding 54 yards on six carries. He connected with receiver
Richard Burton (Ottawa, Ont.) six times for a team-high 93 yards, and found
