Hubbard, de Paiva and Ellison named to Rowing Canada's NextGen National Team

Rowing Canada recently announced their NextGen National Team rosters ahead of the 2022 World Rowing U23 and U19 Championships. Queen's University will be represented well with a contingent of Queen's Gaels rowers making the list for the national program.

Fourth year (Arts & Science) Andrew Hubbard, fifth year (Engineering) Shaye de Paiva and fourth year (Applied Science) Claire Ellison were all named to the National team, while third year (Arts & Science) Ceilidh MacDonald joins the team as a non-travelling spare.

Hubbard will be competing alongside OUA counterpart Michael Ciepiela in the Men's Double as part of the U23 team, while de Paiva and Ellison will compete in the Women's Eight, also as part of the U23 team.

The NextGen National Team will be taking part in the World Rowing U23 Championships in Varese, Italy from July 25-30, 2022.

Another former Gaels rower is also excelling at the national level. Alumna Cassidy Deane was part of a Women's Eight crew that capture silver at the World Cup 3 in Lucerne for Canada this past weekend.
