Steven Lee of men's swimming and
Spencer Abraham of men's hockey have been named the Gabriel Pizza Queen's University Varsity Athletes of the Week for the period ending February 10, 2019.
Sydney Maxwell of the women's squash team is the Queen's University Female Athlete of the Week. Maxwell and the Gaels had an outstanding weekend claiming the school's fifth straight OUA banner in women's squash.
The Queen's rookie had an outstanding performance at the OUA championships as she finished with an undefeated record while only losing two games along the way. She was named the MVP, Rookie of the Year and an OUA All-Star for her efforts.
Steven Lee of the men's swimming team and
Spencer Abraham of the men's hockey team are the Queen's University Male Athletes of the Week. Lee finished with two silver medals at the OUA championships while Abraham broke the school record for career points by a defenceman.
Lee picked up a pair of silver medals at the OUA championship finishing second in the 50m breaststroke and the 100m breaststroke. The veteran Gael also narrowly missed a bronze in the 200m breaststroke finishing fourth. He also helped the 4x50 medley relay to a fifth-place finish.
Abraham helped the Gaels lock down the third spot in the OUA East and was also able to not only tie but break the school record for points by a defenceman with a goal against RMC and an assist against McGill. Abraham moved past Aaron Fransen for the school record of points by a defenceman which now stands at 117.
