KINGSTON, Ont. (March 14, 2022) – Dileas MacGowan from Queen's Women's Squash and Cole Duncanson from Queen's Men's Volleyball have been named the Varsity Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances over the weekend.

MacGowan (Toronto, Ont.) helped the Gaels win their seventh straight OUA title in Women's Squash, and was named the OUA MVP and an OUA All-Star over the weekend.

She finished the weekend with an overall record of 12-1. After dropping the first set in the championship game against Waterloo, MacGowan defeated Waterloo's Khaaliqa Nimji 3-1 (5-11, 11-5, 11-6, 11-4) for the Gaels.

MacGowan was also named an OUA Athlete of the Week. 

Duncanson (St. Catherines, Ont.) helped the Gaels win their opening playoff match against the Nipissing Lakers. After dropping the first set and trailing 16-8 in the second set, Queen's staged an incredible comeback to win the OUA Playoffs second round match 3-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-16) and advance to the East Division Final.

Duncanson finished with a game-high 14 kills while adding four blocks and an ace.

The Gaels are back on the court Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Toronto, Ont., taking on the Toronto Varsity Blues in the OUA East Final.
