(October 9, 2018) - The Queen's University Football Players of the Week for the period ending October 8, 2018 are Matteo Del Brocco on offence, and Nolan Bedard on defence from the Gaels 27-24 loss at McMaster.

Matteo Del Brocco (Kingsville, Ont.) is the Queen's University offensive football player of the week. Del Brocco's career season continued when he put up a career-high 163 yards on eight receptions. The Gaels needed someone to step up in Chris Osei-Kusi's absence if they wanted to keep pace with the Marauders and Del Brocco was the man to do so. This marks the second straight week that Del Brocco has had over 100 yards receiving after his 141-yard receiving game against Western.

As of now, Del Brocco ranks fourth in the OUA with 561 receiving yards and his six touchdown receptions are good for second behind Waterloo's Tyler Ternowski.

Nolan Bedard (Montreal, Que.) is the Queen's University defensive football player of the week. Bedard has taken on a more prominent defensive role over the past few weeks and on Saturday it paid off with his strongest performance of his career. He had 7.5 tackles which was a career-high and led all defensive players in the game.

Bedard's highlight of the game came in the first quarter when he hauled in the first interception of his career. With the Gaels up 7-3, the Marauders drove the ball across midfield before Andreas Dueck threw up a deep pass towards the Gaels end zone. Bedard came down with an athletic interception halting McMaster's drive.
