Mitch signs with Queen's football and is third Dowd brother to become a Gael

KINGSTON, Ont. (February 27, 2017) - Queen's football head coach Pat Sheahan is pleased to announce the signing and commitment of receiver Mitch Dowd (Kingston, Ont.) to the Gaels football program.

Mitch becomes the third Dowd brother to join the Gaels as older brothers Aaron and Nick have suited up for the tricolour already. Aaron has graduated after playing for five seasons but Nick is expected to play his final season in 2017, giving Mitch the chance to play on the same team as one of his brothers for the first time in his playing career.

A natural athlete, Mitch comes to Queen's fresh off a starring role as quarterback for coach Reuben Brunet's KASSA champion Knights, leading them to a 9-2 record and a National Capital Bowl victory. Mitch has spent time with the Kingston Grenadiers as a receiver, where he was named an OVFL All-Star, which is the position he will pursue at Queen's.
