WHO'S HOT?: Abby Dixon - Game-high 17 points vs. Western and second in OUA steals, seven in last two games |
The Queen's women's basketball team (13-3) plays their lone game of the weekend at the Algoma Thunderbirds (1-15) on Saturday at 6pm.
The Gaels won their two games last weekend, beating Western 69-64 at home before defeating Windsor 60-41 at the NBA All-Star weekend in Toronto. After going up 26-9 in the first quarter against Western, Friday night's game was close in the final frame, with two lead changes in the final 10 minutes. Western scored 12 straight points to start the fourth, but
Abby Dixon (North Vancouver) put the Gaels back in the lead with seven of her game-high 17 points. Against Windsor, Queen's broke a defensive deadlock with 25 points in the fourth quarter to come away with the win.
Andrea Priamo (Guelph, Ont.) had a 12 point, 10 rebound double-double to earn player of the game honours in the NBA showcase.
Algoma is on a three-game losing streak heading into this weekend, falling 103-35 to No.4 Ryerson last Saturday. Second on the team in scoring this season, Karissa Kajorinne scored a team-high 13 points in last Friday's losing effort against Toronto. None of the Thunderbirds managed more than seven points against powerhouse Rams. Algoma currently sits at the bottom of the OUA West, while Queen's is first in the OUA East.

WHO'S HOT?: Tanner Graham - Combined for 45 points between the Gaels last two games |
The Gaels men's basketball team (10-6) heads up to play the Algoma Thunderbirds (4-12) on the road this Saturday at 8pm in their lone game of the weekend.
Queen's split their two home games last weekend, beating Western 99-90 in overtime before falling 93-87 to Windsor. In the overtime victory,
Sukhpreet Singh (Toronto) hit three clutch free-throws with no time left of the clock to force the extra frame.
Tanner Graham (Kingston, Ont.) scored eight of his game-high 24 points in the overtime period. Against Windsor, the Gaels got off to a slow start, scoring only 29 points in the first half. A strong second half, highlighted by a 31 point fourth quarter for Queen's, made the game close in the late stages. Unfortunately for the Gaels, Singh's game-high 30 points and Graham's 21 points were not enough to secure the win.
Algoma topped Toronto 62-57 last weekend before falling 98-56 to No.1 Ryerson. Andre Barber and Sean Clendinning lead the Thunderbirds in scoring this season. Clendinning scored a team-high 18 points in the win against Toronto, while Barber chipped in with 15.
