Queen's Women's Volleyball are heading to the OUA semifinals after a big 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-14) win over the Guelph Gryphons in their quarterfinals matchup Friday night at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
The Gaels were in control all first set and while the second set was close for the first half, Queen's went on a seven-point run in the second half for the eight-point win. Queen's closed out the game with another big set win for the quarterfinal win.
Claire Carter (Business) had a strong offensive game for the Gaels, leading the way with 17 points off 17 kills, while also adding six digs and an assist.
Abbey McAlpine (Arts & Science) was also solid for Queen's in the win, with 14 points off nine kills and two blocks, while also adding five digs.
Lauren MacPhail (Arts & Science) finished with 11 points for the Gaels in the win and
Kennedy Millin (Education) was strong from the setter position, finishing with 32 assists.
With the victory, the Gaels advanced to the OUA semifinals where they will take on the top-seeded Brock Badgers, who also won their quarterfinals matchup 3-0. Queen's will travel to St. Catharines to take on the Badgers next weekend.
