Despite taking points away from their last three fixtures, the Gaels were unable to overtake UOIT in the OUA East standings, as both teams finished the regular season with 38 points. The Ridgebacks earn the higher placement and home ice advantage over Queen's in the first round thanks to their record, which boasts an additional win.
Queen's ended their regular season schedule last week with a 4-0 win over Laurentian, preceded by double overtime losses to Nipissing and RMC. In the win against Laurentian, which snapped a three-game losing streak for the Gaels,
Eric Ming (Williamstown, Ont.) and
Slater Doggett (Oakville, Ont.) each tallied a goal and an assist. Backup goaltender
Jacob Brennan (Halifax) got the nod in Queen's final game of the regular season, picking up the first shutout of his Gaels career against Laurentian.
Darcy Greenaway (Wilton, Ont.) netted a goal in each of Queen's losses last weekend. Ming finished the regular season with 32 points to lead all Gaels, on 15 assists and sixth best in goal scoring in the OUA with 17 markers. Starting goaltender
Kevin Bailie (Belleville, Ont.) finished the regular season with an OUA best .942 save percentage. Last year, Queen's was ousted from the playoffs in the second round by No.7 McGill.

UOIT closed out their regular season with a pair of extra time victories, beating Laurentian 1-0 in overtime and Nipissing 3-2 in double overtime. Ben Blasko and Jesse Stoughton played the overtime heroes for the Ridgebacks last weekend. Blasko and Stoughton were also UOIT's leading scorers during the regular season with 25 and 23 points, respectively. Blasko also has the second most game-winning goals in the OUA with five. The Ridgebacks made the playoffs in 2014-15, but fell in the first round to No.8 Carleton.
