Kai Lloyd leads Gaels in their 83-5 win against Toronto

KINGSTON, Ont. (October 24, 2015) – The Gaels (6-1) grabbed another win this Saturday night, trumping the Toronto Varsity Blues (0-7) 83-5 in the windy Homecoming match on Nixon Field.

UP NEXT
The Gaels dominated from the kick-off with Christian Futschik (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) getting the first try of the game down in the first 90 seconds of play followed by a conversion by Alex Colborne (London, Ont.). Teddy Taggart (Ottawa) followed suit and put down another try for the Gaels soon after. The Blues surprised the Gaels with a quick response, pushing deep into the Queen's end to get John Stewart across with their first try of the game.

Colborne hit the ground running after the Blues try, putting down a try of his own three minutes later. Continuing to stretch the Gaels lead, Kainoa Lloyd (Mississauga, Ont.) grabbed a steal from the Blues and broke away to the line, putting down yet another try for Queen's. Eric Bleim (West Vancouver) and Marc Charette (Ottawa) both contributed tries for the Gaels in the first half, putting them up 38-5 at halftime.

The Gaels opened the second like they did the first with a try in the first 2 minutes of play, this time by Captain Lucas Rumball (Toronto). The Gaels continued to gain momentum with Lloyd putting down two tries in a row, grabbing himself a hat trick and stretching the Queen's lead to 57-5. Another try for the Gaels by Nicholas DeLallo (Ottawa) followed by two more tries by Lloyd put the Gaels far out of the Blues' reach. To top off their night, Michael Douros (Toronto) made it through with a try off a crisp Colborne pass just before the final whistle on their 83-5 Gaels win.

FINAL SAY?
"The second 40 minutes was always our concern because of last week [against Laurier]. We obviously improved on that, the guys stayed focused and they stuck to the structure. The guys coming off the bench made a real impact early, which raised the tempo up and once that was raised they just stuck with it." Gary Gilks, Head Coach
