Katie Bruggeling has served as Head Coach, Rowing since 2021, leading the team to 12 medals at the provincial level (three Gold, four Silver, and five Bronze), and three medals at the national level (two Silver, one Bronze) in 2022. Bruggeling spent the previous three years as Queen’s Rowing’s first full-time assistant coach.
In addition to her Queen's experience, Bruggeling has more than 18 years of coaching experience at the junior and senior club level as well as experience in university varsity rowing. She was a former NCAA Division 1 varsity coxswain at Clemson University and an assistant coach at the University of Oklahoma prior to coming to Queen's.
Working in collaboration with Rami Maassarani, Bruggeling was responsible for program logistics, fundraising, and recruiting. She helped the Gaels win an overall bronze medal at the OUA Championships and four silver medals at the Canadian University Rowing Championships.
At the national level, Bruggeling coached the 2020 CanAmMex team with Row Canada, and six Queen’s rowers that have gone on to represent Canada internationally.
