Novice Rowing

Novice Rowing

The Novice Rowing Team offers an introduction to the sport of rowing for individuals with little to no prior experience rowing. The program provides a direct pathway for athletes who demonstrate the potential to contribute to the varsity rowing program in the future. In their novice year, athletes will learn to row, race, and train, all while training in a positive and welcoming learning and training environment.

The season runs from mid-September to mid-March. The team practices 6 to 9 times per week in the fall and 3 to 6 times per week in the winter. Athletes selected for the team are provided with the necessary tools and resources to develop into varsity rowers throughout the winter. The goal of the Novice squad is to develop student-athletes into varsity rowers who can contribute to the varsity team in the following academic year.
