Safe Sport

Safe Sport is about creating a healthy, positive, safe training and competition sport environment that by its cultural nature is free of maltreatment and abuse. Queen’s Athletics & Recreation have been proactively embracing the policies, principles, and direction of Safe Sport for several years, through a mix of education by experts and the True Sport module, along with improving the policies designed to ensure healthy, positive and safe training and competition environments (ie. Background screening and ethics policies).

This year Queen’s A&R has ramped up the education with the support of Allison Forsyth, a two-time Olympian & eight-time national champion (Alpine Skiing), who is a Safe Sport survivor and now one of the leading experts in Canada. Allison has delivered in-person education directly to over 100 staff and coaches in August, followed by tailored in-person education to over 1000 student-athletes from varsity teams and clubs in September.
