Brooke Rutledge and Alex Vreeken have been named the Queen's Gaels Varsity Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances this past weekend.

Rutledge (Translational Medicine) tied for the team-high in points for Queen's Women's Lacrosse over the weekend, recording four goals and tree assists for seven points as the Gaels got off to a strong 2-0 start to the season.

Queen's Women's Lacrosse opened the season with a 15-4 win over the McMaster Marauders Saturday morning before following it up with a 12-7 win over the Brock Badgers Saturday afternoon.

Rutledge recorded four goals and two assists against the Marauders, before adding an assist later in the day against the Badgers.

Queen's Women's Lacrosse is in Oshawa, Ont. next week to take on the Guelph Gryphons and Western Mustangs.

Vreeken (Kinesiology) finished Queen's Football's 49-22 win over the Waterloo Warriors with a career-high 424 passing yards, while adding three touchdown passes, on 22-34 passing.

Queen's Football, now 2-0 to start the season, is in Ottawa, Ont. next weekend to take on the Carleton Ravens, Saturday at 1 PM. Fans can catch the game on OUA.tv.
