Julian Hill from Queen's Sailing was named the Varsity Support Service Award recipient for Varsity Clubs for the 2025-26 season at Queen's Athletics & Recreation's Colour Awards banquet Tuesday night.
The Varsity Support Service Awards are presented annually to recognize the individuals who have demonstrated dedication and leadership while making a significant contribution to the success of the Queen's Varsity Sport Program.
From Varsity Club Coordinator
Kaleigh Churchmuch:
As club president, they have been instrumental in the success of their program behind the scenes. From managing complex travel logistics to ensuring every detail is submitted accurately and on time, their consistency and professionalism have made a real impact. With competitions often taking place internationally, and with multiple different events in a single weekend, they have ensured that everything runs smoothly, not just for their team, but for everyone supporting them as well.
But what stands out most is how they show up for the people around them.
When I first started at Queen's two years ago, one of the very first student-athletes I met was this individual at an event at the Kingston Yacht Club. They welcomed me on the coach boat during their event, and they took the time to explain the sport, the structure, and everything happening on the water. Their passion was immediate and completely contagious.
That passion continues to show up in how they lead today. They are a strong and consistent advocate for their team and for their sport, whether that's ensuring their teammates have what they need to succeed, representing their program with professionalism, or helping others better understand and appreciate the sport they care so deeply about. They lead by example, lift others up, and foster an environment where people feel supported, connected, and confident.
