Queen's Women's Soccer Head Coach Dave McDowell receives Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award at QUAA Gala

Dave McDowell (Artsci/PHE'86, Ed'87), Head Coach of the Queen's Women's Soccer program, was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award last night at the Queen's University Alumni Association Gala in Toronto.

The Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award is the highest honour presented by the Queen's University Alumni Association. Presented annually to an alumnus/alumna who has demonstrated the high ideals imparted by a Queen's University education through significant lifetime contributions to one or more of the following: the arts or sciences; public service; leadership in business, industry or a profession; community, charitable or volunteer work.

Prior to coaching the Queen's Women's Soccer program, Dave studied physical education and education while also playing varsity soccer. He has been at the helm of the Queen's Women's Soccer program since 1988 and during that time, he has become one of the most decorated coaches in the university's history. He has received two U SPORTS (formerly CIS) Coach of the Year awards and seven OUA Coach of the Year honours.

The Queen's Women's Soccer program has brought in three national championships and six conference championships under McDowell's tutelage. The team has made it to the national championship 15 times during his time as head coach and they have never had a losing record during that time.
