KINGSTON, Ont. (January 8, 2024) - Queen's Women's Soccer alumna
Kirstin Tynan signed a professional contract with Vancouver Rise FC of Canada's Northern Super League (NSL).
Tynan (Political Studies/Health Studies), who spent the past five years with the Gaels (2020-24), will sign with her hometown club in Vancouver for the inaugural season of the NSL.

"I have had the dream/goal of playing professional soccer since I was a little kid," Tynan said. "When I went on exchange in my third year in England, I had the opportunity to train with a professional team, and that experience truly ignited the goal within myself, in hopes of signing a professional contract upon graduating from Queen's.
"To be able to achieve this goal in my hometown truly means the world to me, as the new Northern Super League is creating professional soccer opportunities for women that didn't exist in Canada before now."
Tynan was named an OUA First Team All-Star and U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian after the 2023 season, after surrendering just three goals and making 22 saves all season, helping the Gaels finish as the top defensive team in the conference.
Tynan played in 58 career games for the Gaels (regular season and playoffs combined) over four seasons, and recorded 36 clean sheets.
During her tenure as starting goalkeeper with Queen's Women's Soccer, the program captured an OUA Championship (2021) and advanced to three U SPORTS Women's Soccer Championships. The Gaels also earned a conference silver medal in 2023 and finished first in the OUA East Division in 2022.
"We are incredibly excited that Kirstin has signed with Vancouver in the new Northern Super League," said Queen's Women's Soccer Head Coach
Dave McDowell. "We couldn't be more proud of her. She has been an amazing goalkeeper, leader, and ambassador for our program for the last five years and we have no doubt she'll bring that same dedication and excellence to The Rise and the league as a whole. We're thrilled to watch her continue to shine at the next level!"
Along with playing club soccer with TSS Rovers in League 1 BC, Tynan spent time with Everton F.C. while studying abroad in England.
Tynan joins former Gaels teammate and fellow Queen's Women's Soccer alumna Christie Gray in signing in the NSL after Gray
signed with Calgary Wild FC last month.
