Queen's is coming off a 5-3 regular season, finishing fifth in the OUA standings and securing a playoff berth. The Gaels defeated the Windsor Lancers in the OUA Quarterfinals, but came up short to the defending 116th Yates Cup Champions, the Laurier Golden Hawks, in the Semifinals.
The Gaels will welcome the Lancers to Richardson Stadium for their Homecoming game on Saturday, October 18–with whom they posted an identical 5-3 record to last season.
Queen's Football Head Coach
Steve Snyder highlighted the recent battles between the two teams, stating, "Windsor is a team we have had some really competitive games against recently and have travelled there three times in the past two seasons. This year, they will come up to Queen's for our Homecoming Game."
Along with the Mustangs, Queen's will host the Golden Hawks, York Lions, and Windsor Lancers, and will visit the McMaster Marauders, Toronto Varsity Blues, Waterloo Warriors, and the Guelph Gryphons.
"This year's schedule once again provides a great opportunity for us to host big time football games and also has us on the road against strong opponents" said Snyder.
Fans don't have to wait until August to see Queen's Football in action. The Gaels will take the field for the annual Gold Game on Saturday, April 5, at 1:00 PM at Richardson Stadium.
This free event gives fans an early look at the 2025 squad as they compete in this inter-squad game.
The Gold Game will feature a special alumni inspired match-up. Each inter-squad team is named after a Hall of Famer. This year 'Larry Mohr's '85 team' will wear gold and 'Mike Boone's '92 team' will wear blue. The match up is sure to stir up some rivalry and add some nostalgic flare to the inter-squad game.
