Jude Wheeler-Dee breaks 4-minute mile barrier, Queen's Distance Track delivers impressive performances in Boston

The Queen's University Distance Track team delivered impressive performances at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational hosted by Boston University and the Showdown on the Heights hosted by Boston College over the weekend.

Highlights:

  • Jude Wheeler-Dee (Chemistry) broke the 4-minute mile barrier, clocking an incredible 3:58.53. Wheeler becomes the first Queen's athlete to run under 4 minutes and shattered his own school record of 4:02.55, set last year. This time places him at No. 1 in the U SPORTS rankings.
  • Alyshia Alkerton (Arts & Science)  ran 9:29.69 in the 3000m, earning an automatic qualifier for U SPORTS and securing the No. 6 spot in the U SPORTS rankings. Her time is also the fifth-fastest in Queen's history.
  • Roman Mironov (Commerce)  finished the 3000m in 8:07.65, ranking No. 9 in U SPORTS and No. 3 all-time at Queen's.
  • Elizabeth Vroom (Engineering)  ran 4:49.26 in the mile, ranking No. 9 in U SPORTS and No. 2 all-time at Queen's.
  • Caleigh Pribaz (Kinesiology) ran 4:49.95 in the mile, placing No. 3 all-time at Queen's.
  • Tanner Hueglin (Arts & Science) recorded a time of 4:09.15 in the mile, making him No. 3 all-time at Queen's.
  • Katherine Taylor (Graduate Studies) ran 4:58.65 in the mile, placing No. 6 all-time at Queen's.
Queen's Distance Track will compete next at the Carleton Ravens Last Chance Invitational February 14-15, 2025 at the Dome @ Louis-Riel in Gloucester, Ont.

The Gaels continue to make strides on the track as they prepare for the upcoming OUA Championships in Windsor February 21-22, 2025 in Windsor, Ont. and the U SPORTS Championships also being held in Windsor, Ont. on March 6-8, 2025.
