Caleigh Pribaz opened up the first full Queen's Distance Track team event of the season at this weekend's Utica Winter Open. Pribaz (Kinesiology) won the Women's Mile event (4:58.09) and came back an hour later to emerge victorious in the 800m (2:19.10).

Just behind Pribaz in the mile were teammates Hannah Goodjohn (Health Sciences) in third (5:04.65) and Gillian Porter in fourth (5:09.91). In the 800m, Pribaz was just in front of another teammate in Olivia Hendrikx (2:20.51), while Daria Klufas was seventh (2:25.21).

Other winners for the women's side included Elizabeth Vroom (Engineering) in the 3000m (9:55.52). Olivia Baggley (Arts & Science) was second (10:00.57) and first year student, Leah Richter, was sixth (10:41.17). Vroom's time currently places her 11^th in the U SPORTS rankings. Hilary Johnson (Arts & Science) also won the 1000m (3:20.26) for Queen's Distance Track.

On the men's side, Tanner Hueglin (Arts & Science) dominated the mile event with a season opener of 4:10. 51. His time currently ranks him second in the U SPORTS rankings. In third and fourth were Queen's teammates Ethan Rashid-Cocker (Business) (4:18.93) and Owen Danby (Arts & Science) (4:19.50).
 
Former 1,000M U SPORTS champion, Jude Wheeler-Dee (Chemistry), also opened up his season by almost breaking his existing school record (4:22.12). Wheeler-Dee ran 2:22.42 to beat Division 3 Indoor Mile champion Nick Lyndaker by four seconds. This time puts him at number one in the  U SPORTS rankings and is an automatic qualifier for the U SPORTS Track & Field Championship in Winnipeg.

Kynan Loftus ran a strong race to place fourth (2:34.09) and Cam Bennett was fifith (2:34.37).

Rashid-Cocker came back two hours later to run the 3,000M, where he placed 11^th (8:58.02). Queen's top finisher was Emile Zanuttinni in sixth (8:53.08) and Jack Sacilotto in eighth (8:53.47).

Queen's will be racing at the McGill Team Challenge this Friday and Saturday.
