Gaels Capture Three Medals at OUA Track & Field Championships in Windsor

Queen's Distance Track showcased a series of commendable performances at the 2025 OUA Track & Field Championships in Windsor, Ont., bringing home three medals, including a gold from Jude Wheeler-Dee (Chemistry).

Wheeler-Dee made a major leap from a bronze-medal finish in the 1500m last year, powering to the OUA gold medal with a time of 3:50.20.

The term 'history repeats itself' has defined Will Cox's (Graduate Studies) OUA 3000m runs over the past two years. Just like last year, Cox entered the race outside the U SPORTS qualifying window and needed a top-two finish to book a spot at nationals.

Once again, Cox delivered, securing silver with a time of 8:14.14, just behind McMaster's Alex Purnell. The performance not only earned another podium finish but also moved Cox to 8th in the U SPORTS rankings, just one spot behind teammate Roman Mironov (Commerce), who placed 8th in 8:33.58.

The women's 4x800m relay team continued its podium streak, earning bronze for the third year in a row. Despite a dropped baton in the final 80m, the team of Gillian Porter (Sciences), Elizabeth Vroom (Engineering), Olivia Hendrikx (School of Medicine), and Caleigh Pribaz (Kinesiology) fought to the finish and will also represent Queen's at the upcoming U SPORTS Championships.

Several Queen's athletes will now suit up for the U SPORTS Track & Field Championships, set to take place in Windsor from March 6-8, including Cox, Pribaz, Porter, Mironov, Hendrikx, Wheeler-Dee, Vroom, William Squarek (Applied Science), Lauren Lowther (Graduate Studies), and Alyshia Alkerton (Arts & Science).
