Queen's Water Polo hosted the NCWP Championships at the ARC Pool this past weekend, with the Gaels earning bronze on the women's side, while Queen's Wrestling competed at the University of Toronto Open, finishing eighth overall.
Queen's Water Polo
Queen's Water Polo played host to the 2025 National Collegiate Water Polo (NCWP) championships at ARC Pool this weekend. UofT were the eventual winners of both the men's and women's divisions.
Queen's Women claimed the bronze medal with a 14-10 win over Mac Sunday afternoon. Captains Ally Rowe with 6 goals and Evie Carr, with 4, lead the team in the win. Queen's lost their semi final Saturday to 2nd place McGill in a close 7-10 match.
Scorers over the weekend were Rowe with 7, Carr with 4, veterans Ryleigh Kay and Sophia Herrington keeping pace with rookie Alexia Dragoiescu while scoring 3 each.
The men had a very, very competitive league this season and seeded teams did not change places at all during the championships. After a 10-14 quarter final loss to McMaster our men went into the placement round where they dominated. Saturday wins of 17-6 over Ottawa Gee Gees and 16-8 over McGill secured a 5th place finish.
Leading the men in scoring were co-captain Kristijan Markovski with 14 goals, Stefan Groza and Caiomyn Fitzgerald 6 each. Centre forwards Ivan Hodgson (5) and John Campbell (3) contributed 8 goals from that crucial position.
UofT beat Western 12-10 in the men's final while Carleton had to go to penalty shots to win their Bronze medal 8-6 over McMaster men.
Queen's Wrestling
The Queen's University Women's Wrestling team placed 5th overall at University of Toronto open 2025. Queen's University Men's Wrestling placed 16th, with the overall Queen's Wrestling team placing 8th. Other highlights include athletes placing in the top 6 of their weight classes; Jonathan Vecchio placing 3rd in 125 kgs, Sarah Doyle placing 3rd in 90kg, Jasminder Kobayashi placing 4th in 59kg, Ava Campell placing 5th in 62kg, Canyon Ferguson placing 5th in 72kg, Khushbir Basra placing 5th in 68kg, Nate Mossey placing 6th in 82kg, and Sidney Kang placing 6th.

Adam Carbonara won three of his matches; 6-2 by pin, 8-10 by pin, 13-2 by TF.
Reid Hopkins won two of his matches; 13-6 by pin and 12-0 by TF.
Kahir Karim-Hajiani won two of his matches; 10-0 by TF and 2-0 by pin.
Calvin Adams won one match by pin 2-0. In under a minute.
Jivan Kaprielian won one match by pin 2-0. In under a minute.
Max Seon won one match by pin 4-0 in 26 seconds.
Resulting in a total of 18 wins at the tournament for Queen's University.
