Mattson Strickler and
Jude Wheeler-Dee were named the Queen's University Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances this past weekend.
Strickler (Concurrent Education) finished the weekend with two goals and two assists as Queen's Women's Soccer closed out the OUA regular season with two big wins.
Strickler scored the first two goals in the Gaels' 4-0 win over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks on Friday, and assisted on the first and third goal in Queen's 3-0 win over the Carleton Ravens on Sunday for a four-point weekend.
Strickler led the Gaels and was fourth overall in the OUA in points this regular season with 12.
With the two weekend wins, Queen's Women's Soccer finished the season with a 9-2-1 record and earned a bye into the OUA quarterfinals. The Gaels will host the quarterfinals Sunday at 1 p.m. at Richardson Stadium.
Wheeler-Dee finished first overall and helped Queen's Men's Cross Country win the team title at the Bayfront Open in Hamilton, Ont. last Friday.
Wheeler-Dee crossed the finish line with a final time of 23:25.2, almost three seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Max Davies from Guelph.
Queen's finished the overall race with 54 points to win the Men's title, 24 points lower than the second place Sherbrooke Vert et Or.
Queen's is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 25 when they host the OUA Championship at Fort Henry.
