Jude Wheeler-Dee finishes first, Queen's Men's Cross Country win Bayfront Invitational; Women's team finishes fifth

Queen's Cross Country had a successful tuneup for the OUA Championship in the final event before hosting the provincial finals, competing in the Bayfront Invitational this past Friday in Hamilton, Ont.

The Gaels' Men's side won the overall title with Jude Wheeler-Dee (Chemistry) finishing first overall and winning the Men's Individual title.

Wheeler-Dee crossed the finish line with a final time of 23:25.2, almost three seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Max Davies from Guelph.

Angus Skinner (Education) was the Gaels' second top finisher, crossing the finish line in the 8K race in eighth overall with a time of 24:09.0. Roman Mironov (Commerce) was 10th overall with a time of 24:11.6 and Tanner Hueglin (Arts & Science) was 11th overall with a time of 24:16.4.

Queen's finished the overall race with 54 points to win the Men's title, 24 points lower than the second place Sherbrooke Vert et Or.

On the Women's side, the Gaels finished with 111 points for fifth overall. Queen's had just four points more than the fourth place finishers, the Guelph Gryphons, and 30 points more than the third place finishers, McMaster Marauders.

Olivia Baggley (Arts & Science) was Queen's top finisher on the Women's side, crossing the finish line 14th overall with a final time of 28:48.1 in the 8K race.

Caleigh Pribaz (Kinesiology) also finished in the Top 20 for the Gaels, coming in 19th with a time of 28:56.6.

Queen's is back in action on Saturday, Oct. 25 when they host the OUA Championship at Fort Henry.
