(11/01/25) - Kingston, ON., The Queen's Gaels Women's Basketball team swept the 4-8 Nipissing Lakers 80-57 in their second game back from the winter-break. With this win, the Gaels extend their game streak to 10, as they have yet to lose a game since the opening weekend of the season. After a successful game against the Laurentian Voyageurs the evening prior 69-43, the Gaels walked onto their home court with a momentous stride. No. 0
Amy Hagman (Kinesiology) propped up the Gaels win with a 21-point evening scoring six three-pointers out of eight attempted.Â

Katrina Renon (Arts and Sciences) shot the first basket of the game but scoring was slow to come by in the first as both teams chased each other back and forth on the scoreboard for the lead. A jumper by no. 21
Brooke Hussey (Kinesiology) brought the Gaels to a 10-8 lead, although the Lakers quickly retaliated back. Catching some momentum, the Lakers added up a lead of 18-12 in the last few minutes of the first, freezing the Gaels until a fowl sends no. 6
Vobia Kalome (Arts and Sciences) to the free-throw line. A buzzer-beater three-pointer by no. 22
Keira Spencer (Arts and Sciences) ends the first 10 minutes of play with a score of 21-17 for the Lakers.
The second period is where Hagman showed her magic on the court as she scored a total of 14 points. Three after three pointer were scored by the Queen's forward, aiding her team to whittle down the Lakers lead. This is done with speed as the Gaels quickly get their lead back 29-23 since early on in the first. The Gaels as a whole were hot from the arch as Renon sinks another. Hiking a score of double-digits over the Lakers, the Gaels set a distance from the Lakers that would continue all game. No. 7
Bree Bourget (Kinesiology) and Spencer both sink from the arch and the first half of the game ends with the Gaels leading 42-31.Â

Mikayla McFarlane (Kinesiology) and no. 5
Ally Smith (Kinesiology) dominated the third period in points with six each as the Gaels sat comfortably in their lead. Another three by Spencer marked her third of the night, bringing the score to 56-40, followed by two good free-throws by Hussey. The third quarter ended with the score of 61-44.
Two good free-throws by Renon boost the Gaels lead to 20 points over the Lakers. Hagman hot at the arch once again scores back-to-back three's. The Gaels were 15-34 from the three-point line, making it a dominant feature of their attack against the Lakers. What was once a close game in the first period became a great game offensively for the Gaels as they finish 80-57 defeating the Lakers. Nipissing proved to be strong on rebounds although this was not enough to combat the Gaels's amazing efforts on the court. This win boosts the Gaels season record to 10-2 as playoffs are soon to be on the horizon.Â
