Kingston, Ont. (May 7, 2024) – Two members of Queen's Women's Rugby have been named to Team Canada's roster for the FISU World Rugby Sevens University Championships.
Lizzie Gibson (Arts & Science) and
Carmen Izyk (Nursing) were named to the roster by U SPORTS and Rugby Canada on Tuesday.
Gibson, from Caledon, Ont., led the OUA in scoring in 2023, finishing with 94 points off three tries, 35 converts, and three penalty goals.
2022's OUA and U SPORTS Women's Rugby Player of the Year, Gibson set Queen's Women's Rugby's all-time record in points last year with 312.
Izyk, from Blackie, Alta., led the OUA in tries in 2023, finishing with 10 for 50 points.
A now four-time U SPORTS All-Canadian and four-time OUA All-Star, Izyk set Queen's Women's Rugby's all-time record in tries in 2023, with 31 over four years with the Gaels.
The FISU World Rugby Sevens University Championships will take place from June 10-12 in Aix-en-Provence, France.
