Queen's Rowing had a strong showing at the Canadian University Rowing Championships in Victoria, B.C. this past weekend.

The Women's team finished third overall, scoring 90 points, 20 points behind the second place finishers from UBC and 18 points ahead of the fourth place finishers from Western. The Men's team finished fifth overall, recording 58 points on the weekend, 28 points behind the joint second place finishers, Victoria and Western.

The Gaels also earned four medals at the Championships, with the Men's Lightweight 4+ earning a gold medal, the Women's Lightweight 1x and Lightweight 4+ earning silver medals, and the Women's 8+ earning a bronze medal.
 
The crew of Lucas Celia (Civil Engineering), Liam Shapland (Engineering), Leo Biancaniello (Applied Science), Nigel Radhakrishnan (Electrical Engineering), and coxswain Lauren Schwandt (Geological Engineering) finished first in the Men's Lightweight 4+.

Julia Teixeira (Arts & Science) finished second in the Women's Lightweight 1x, and Isidora Ferguson (Geology), Gillian Jansen (Life Sciences), Brigitte Gaudert (Biotechnology), Teixeira, and coxswain Jess Stephenson (Computer Engineering) finished second in the Women's Lightweight 4+.

And the crew of Claire Ellison (Civil Engineering), Jacquie Groenewegen (Computer Engineering), Abby Spiers (Physiotherapy), Kaija Erickson (Kinesiology), Ceilidh MacDonald (Mathematics), Julia Schuurmans (School of Medicine), Bryn Bain (Health Sciences), Gaudert, and coxswain Nicole Schmidt (Life Sciences) finished third in the Women's 8+.
