Kingston, ONT (October 1, 2024)-  George Papadopoulos (Arts and Sciences) and Eva Johnston (Bussiness) have been named Queen's University Varsity Sports Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances over the past weekend.

It was a hard-fought weekend for the Queen's Men's Soccer team, earning two 1-1 draws in games against Nipissing and Laurentian Univerisity. George Papadopoulos provided the offence for the Gaels, scoring both goals for the team on the weekend. The two tallies from Papadopoulos, the first-year forward from Toronto, Ontario,  bring his season goal total to four. 

Queen's Men's Soccer will hit the road next weekend, making a stop in Toronto on October 5 at Toronto Metropolitan University, then heading north to Nipissing to take on the Lakers on October 6. 

The Queen's Women's Rugby team continued their dominating run Friday night. Their fifth consecutive win of the season came in London, Ontario, where the Gaels beat the Mustangs 69-0. First-year player Eva Johnston made a statement with three tries in the victory.

The Queen's Women's Rugby team will not wrap up their regular season on October 5, when the Gaels host the McMaster Marauders on Nixon Field at 7:00 PM.
