2023 OUA Football schedule released, Queen's open season at home vs. Laurier

KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 19, 2023) – Queen's Football will open their 2023 OUA regular season schedule at home, taking on the Laurier Golden Hawks at Richardson Stadium.

The OUA announced the 2023 regular season schedule Thursday, with the 114th Yates Cup finalists Queen's Football opening their season Saturday, August 26 at 3 p.m. against the Golden Hawks. Queen's defeated Laurier 30-11 in the final week of the regular season in Waterloo, Ont. last year.

Queen's will also open the pavilion at Richardson Stadium for the 2023 season.

Football season ticket packages are on sale now and can be purchased here. Single-game tickets will be on sale prior to the start of the regular season.

Queen's is coming off a 7-1 regular season that culminated in a trip to the 114th Yates Cup against the Mustangs last season. The Mustangs ultimately defeated Queen's Football 44-16 in the OUA Championship game.

Along with the Golden Hawks, Queen's Football will host the Mustangs, Carleton Ravens, and Ottawa Gee-Gees, and will visit the Toronto Varsity Blues, Windsor Lancers, York Lions, and Guelph Gryphons in 2023.

"This year's schedule is a reminder of the depth of the OUA conference," said Queen's Football Head Coach Steve Snyder. "Each week will be a challenge as we prepare for difficult road trips, hostile environments, and strong opponents.

"We are always going to be excited to play at Richardson Stadium. This year will be very special with the opening of the pavilion. We believe the new feel at Richardson Stadium is something football fans across the province should come experience.

"The schedule has its challenges; now it's on our program to plan and prepare for all the unique dynamics that we will need to manage in order to be successful.

"We are working hard behind the scenes to put ourselves in position to have another competitive year and continue to hunt for championships."

After their home opener in Week 1, Queen's Football will have a bye in Week 2 before taking on the Varsity Blues in Toronto, Ont. on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. in Week 3.

Queen's will be back home in Week 4 to host the Mustangs on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 3 p.m. at Richardson Stadium.

Up next is a two-game road trip, with Queen's taking on the Lancers in Windsor, Ont. on Saturday, Sept. 23 (gametime TBD) in Week 5 and the Lions in Toronto on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. in Week 6.

Queen's will host the Ravens in a night game at Richardson Stadium ahead of Thanksgiving Weekend, taking on Carleton Friday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m. in Week 7.

The team is back on the road next weekend, travelling to Guelph, Ont. to take on the Gryphons on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. in Week 8.

And Queen's Football will close out the regular season at home, hosting the Gee-Gees on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. at Richardson Stadium.

OUA Football Playoffs will begin Saturday, Oct. 28, with the 115th Yates Cup to be played on Saturday, Nov. 11.
