Keenan, Longa lead strong offence in Queen's Football's big win over Carleton

KINGSTON, Ont. (Sept. 17, 2022) – Queen's Football team added another win to their record after defeating the Carleton Ravens 49-17 in front of a loud Richardson Stadium Saturday night. After the Ravens opened the game with a single point on the opening kickoff, Queen's was in the end zone two plays later and never looked back. Quarterback James Keenan finished the game 19 for 22 for 364 yards and four touchdowns.

Nicodeme Kwemo had two touchdowns, with the first being a spectacular 42-yard pass from Keenan to open the scoring in the first minute of the game.

O'Neal and Keenan both had very positive takeaways about the passing during tonight's game.

"We have a great receiving core," Keenan said. "Everyone loves each other. And everyone loves to help each other out, and you see Nicodeme getting two touchdowns and Aiden getting a touchdown. Everyone's happy for each other. It's a great group of guys, and I love to play with them."

Aidan O'NealO'Neal added, "it's nice to have the momentum on your side, you don't want to lose momentum, and it's awesome just to take it right away first two snaps of the game."

The win came in front of a very loud and supportive crowd at Richardson Stadium.

"It was exactly what we wanted and exactly what we needed," Queen's Football Head Coach Steve Snyder said of the strong student support Saturday night. "That energy, you can't fake it. It's goes a long way for a football team. The students are not coming to watch the game, they're coming to participate in the game. And when they're in to it, it makes a difference.

"These guys are so proud to play for Queen's. I think it's tremendous, I'm so glad they were there, and I think they got a great show."

"It was awesome," Keenan echoed. "I love seeing the students out, it's such a huge help when they get out here and they were loud. I could hear multiple times during the game, so that was awesome."

Queen's had another strong rushing game as well, led by Yann Longa. Longa finished with 15 carries for 112 yards and three touchdowns. Queen's leading rusher on the season, Anthony Soles, added 11 carries for 81 yards.
