KINGSTON, Ont (March 16, 2022) - Queen's Men's Basketball advanced to the second round of the OUA Playoffs after a 69-59 win over the Nipissing Lakers Wednesday at the ARC.
The Gaels held a three-point lead at half time before pulling away to secure the 10-point win in the first round matchup.
Cole Syllas (Kingston, Ont.) led Queen's offensively with a double-double, finishing the game with 21 points and 15 rebounds.
Connor Keefe (Halifax, N.S.) also recorded a double-double for the Gaels in the win, finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while
Quinton Gray (Richmond Hill, Ont.) added 12 points and seven rebounds and
Henry Van Herk (Toronto, Ont.) recorded 11 points and five rebounds in the win.
The Gaels finished the game shooting 39.7 per cent (29-73)Â from the floor and 23.8 per cent (5-21) from three point range, compared to 26.5 per cent (18-68) from the floor and 25.6 per cent (11-43) from three point range for the Lakers.
With the win, Queen's advanced to the second round of the OUA Playoffs where they will take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Ottawa, Ont. The Gee-Gees took the season series over the Gaels 2-0, beating them 77-63 on Feb. 11 and 70-72 in overtime on Feb. 12.
