Women's Soccer's Christie Gray signs pro deal with RIK Karlskoga in Sweden

KINGSTON, Ont. (March 14, 2022) - Queen's Women's Soccer's Christie Gray signed a professional contract with RIK Karlskoga of the Elitettan league in Sweden over the weekend.

Gray (Vancouver, B.C.) was named a U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian, OUA East Division All-Star, and OUA East Division Community Service Award winner for the 2021 season after helping in the planning of Queen's Women's Soccer's Kick for the Cure initiative, which helped raise more than $13,000 in the month on October for breast cancer research and support programs.

"Very simply one of the most important leaders we've ever had in our program," said Queen's Women's Soccer Head Coach Dave McDowell when Gray won the Community Service Award. "Christie is a real force of nature when she takes on a challenge! So engaged with our team, athletics and community…...she has established traditions, fundraising initiatives and community relationships that will last far after she has graduated!   We couldn't be more proud of her incredible contributions and the recognition that this award brings!"

Gray also led the Gaels and was second in the OUA in scoring in 2021, finding the back of the net 10 times in 10 regular season games. She has been with Queen's Women's Soccer since the 2017-18 season, and accumulated 26 goals and 13 assists. She was also named an OUA All-Star in 2019 and trained with FC Girondins De Bordeaux during the cancelled 2020 season.

"A dynamic forward blessed with pace, 1v1 ambition and a never-ending competitive fire, Christie has again established herself as one of the top forwards in the country," McDowell said when Gray was named an All-Star. "As a co-captain and one of our senior leaders she was integral in helping guide our team through the pandemic and then followed that up with a senior season of the highest quality!"
