Kendra Couto, Tatiana Kayrouz, Seema Sakran, and Mattson Stricker named OUA All-Stars

Four Queen's Women's Soccer players were named OUA All-Stars for the 2025 season by the conference on Wednesday.

Midfielder Kendra Couto (Mechanical Engineering) was named an OUA East Division First Team All-Star while defender Tatiana Kayrouz (Commerce) and strikers Seema Sakran (Kinesiology) and Mattson Strickler (Concurrent Education) were named East Division Second Team All-Stars.

Couto was named a First-Team All-Star after finishing the regular season with four goals and an assist in 11 games.

"A team captain, Kenny was once again our most consistent performer all season," said Queen's Women's Head Coach Dave McDowell. "Most games, she was the best player on the field on either team and finished a senior season filled with thorough and impressive performances on both sides of the ball. Her commitment, passion and leadership will be very much missed next season."

Kayrouz was named a Second Team All-Star after leading the Gaels and  finishing second in the conference in assists with seven on the season. Kayrouz also finished the season with a goal for eight points on the season.

"Tatiana continues to develop into one of the most talented players in the league," McDowell said. "A shut down defender who thrives in 1v1 situations. She was a dominant force both on and off the ball and spent the season shutting down the other teams best attacker.  Can't wait to see what next season holds for her as she takes a more important role as a senior leader in a young group."

Sakran was named a Second Team All-Star after leading the Gaels and finishing tied for third in the conference with nine goals on the season. Sakran also had four assists for 11 points, which was fifth in the conference.

"Always one of the most creative and dynamic players in the OUA, Seems was a continual source of problems for opposition defences through the season," said McDowell. "Her dedication, engagement and sense of humour set a great tone for our team and was a key part of our culture both on and off the field."

Stricker was named a Second Team All-Star after recording seven goals and five assists for 12 points, which led the Gaels and was fourth in the conference.

"Mattie finishes her career as one of our most dynamic attackers. She was an essential piece in establishing our press defensively and was once again one of the most exciting attacking players in the league. Her leadership and captaincy were essential parts of both our season and her five years with our program."

Queen's Women's Soccer finished the regular season 9-2-1, second in the OUA East, and advanced to the OUA semifinals in the playoffs.
