KINGSTON, Ont. (Oct. 31, 2022) - Maggie Banks and Mitchell Kirby have been named the Queen's University Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances this past weekend.

Banks (Coquitlam, B.C.) helped Queen's Women's Rugby defeat the Guelph Gryphons 29-14 in a rematch of last year's OUA Championship game to win the OUA Championship.

Banks led the team in scoring with two tries, opening the scoring early in the game and adding a highlight reel score late in the first half.

Queen's Women's Rugby will now travel to the U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championship in Victoria, B.C., opening play on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 10 p.m. against the host Victoria Vikes.

Kirby (Harrowsmith, Ont.) helped Queen's Men's Cross Country capture the silver medal at the OUA Championship in London, Ont. on Saturday.

Kirby was the Gaels' top finisher and fourth overall with a final time of 24:53 in the 8km race.

Queen's Cross Country will race next in the U SPORTS Cross Country Championship on Nov. 12 in Halifax, N.S.
