Queen's Cross Country had a second strong meet to start the season this past weekend in Ottawa, Ont. with the Women's side continuing their winning ways, placing first in the Capital XC Challenge, while the Men's team finished on the podium as well, finishing second.
The Gaels finished with 31 points on the Women's side for the win, 20 points less than the second place finishers, the Laval Rouge et Or.
Olivia Baggley (Arts & Science), who finished first in last week's meet in Canton, NY, once again led the Gaels and finished fourth overall with a final time of 23:04.13 in the 6 KM race.
Rosalyn Barrett (Health Sciences) was right behind Baggley and rounded out the Top 5 with a final time of 23:10.79.
Elizabeth Vroom (Engineering) and
Caleigh Pribaz (Kinesiology) also finished in the Top 10 for the Gaels, with Vroom finishing seventh with a final time of 23:19.99 and Pribaz finishing eighth with a final time of 23:27.05.
On the Men's side, the Gaels finished with 45 points, 21 points behind the first place finishers, the Rouge et Or, and 41 points ahead of the third place finishers, the Montreal Carabins.
Saul Taler (Kinesiology) led the way for Queen's and finished on the podium, coming in third place overall in the 6 KM race with a final time of 19:15.90.
The Gaels had two other finishers in the Top 10, with
Charlie Mortimer (Arts & Science) finishing eighth overall with a final time of 19:39.60 and
Owen Danby (Arts & Science) finishing ninth overall with a final time of 19:40.40.
Queen's is back in action next weekend, participating in the Paul Short Run in Lehigh, PA on Friday, Oct. 2.
