GAME FLOW
After a back and forth stalemate for a majority of the first quarter, Guelph running back Kiondre Smith opened the scoring with a four-yard touchdown run with 56 seconds remaining to close out a four-play 54-yard drive to grab a 7-0 lead for the Gryphons.

Gaels quarterback Ryan Licandro left the game early in the second quarter after completing six of nine passes for 34 yards. James Keenan stepped up in Licandro's absence throwing a 25-yard pass to Ben Arhen and Rasheed Tucker punched it in from 17 yards out to tie the game up at 7-7.

The Gaels managed to put consistent pressure on Gryphons quarterback Theo Landers as Tyler Roy pulled him down behind the line of scrimmage twice in the second quarter alone and finished the game with a total of 4.5 sacks. The 4.5 mark ties the second-most ever for a Gaels player in a single game as Cory Dyer also completed the feat in 2012 against Windsor. The Queen's all-time record is 5.5 sacks in a single game which is held by Dee Sterling when he gave Laurier fits on September 13 of 2008.

After a Roy sack, Eric Stranz pulled a 44-yard field goal attempt wide right, for his first missed field goal of the season.

With a 1:30 left in the half, Keenan drove the Gaels down the field, making a huge 22 yard run before finding Marko Xidos for 13 yards, Ben Arhen for 35 yards, and Richard Burton for nine yards on three consecutive plays.

Keenan finished the drive with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Ben Arhen in the back of the end zone to give Queen's a 14-7 lead entering halftime.

Guelph responded early in the third quarter as Eric Stranz converted on a 42-yard field goal attempt to pull the Gryphons to within four as Queen's led 14-10 with 8:36 remaining.

The Gryphons continued on the attack to close the third quarter, maintaining possession for the final 6:35 in the quarter until Launders punched it in from one-yard out to punctuate the 85-yard drive and take the lead 17-14.

After a Ben Hadley field goal, Rasheed Tucker answered again for Queen's scoring on a 28-yard touchdown run to give the Gaels a 24-17 lead midway through the fourth quarter. Guelph marched down the field again with ending an eight-play, 103-yard drive with a 25-yard touchdown pass to Kiondre Smith to level the score at 24-24.

The Gaels defence held strong for the remainder of the quarter, as Roy and Lawson sacked Landers with 4.3 seconds left. On the final play of regulation, Eric Stranz pulled a 47-yard field goal wide left to send the game to overtime.

The Gaels won the toss to start overtime but were unable to gain any yards on their first two plays. Queen's attempted to convert on third and 10, but Keenan was tackled short of the first down marker.

Guelph took over on the Queen's 35-yard line and after Juwan Jeffrey carried the ball on three consecutive runs, Eric Stranz converted on a 26-yard field goal attempt to win the game for the Gryphons.

FINAL SAY
"It was a good game, well played by both teams. It was exciting for the fans, right down to the wire with an overtime game. It's definitely one we could have won we just didn't make the plays at the end of the game and they did." - Head coach Steve Snyder.
