The Gaels (11-7) have just one game on the docket this weekend as they host the York Lions (8-10) in the game of the week. Tip-off is set for 6 pm at the ARC Main Gym.
Queen's is coming off of an impressive home weekend that saw them put up 95 points in a win over Nipissing on Friday and then take down Laurentian Saturday on a night where senior
Marianne Alarie hit the 1,000 point milestone.
Early in the second quarter against the Voyageurs, Alarie made a basket which marked her 1000th and 1001st career points as a Gael. She finished the game with 13 points and now sits at 1,009 in her career. Alarie joins recent Gaels greats
Liz Boag (1,055)
Jenny Wright (1,167) and
Brittany Moore (1,652) in the 1,000 point club. Moore holds the Queen's all-time record with 1,652 which she established in 2012.
The Lions sit just six points behind the Gaels for fourth place in the OUA East while Queen's themselves are six points behind Ryerson for third. The game could end up proving to be a potential preview of the OUA opening playoff round as the fourth seed hosts the fifth seed.
The game will also mark a homecoming of sorts as
Emily Hazlett returns to the ARC as a Lions assistant coach. The former Gaels captain was recently featured by U SPORTS - check out the story here.
