The Queen's Gaels (9-7-0-0) will look to use home ice to their advantage this weekend as they welcome the No.6 Western Mustangs (10-2-0-4) in the game of the week on Friday night and then the Windsor Lancers (0-13-2-1) on Saturday night. Puck-drop for each game is set for 7:30 pm at the Kingston Memorial Centre.

The Gaels have had just one home game in their last seven contests and will look to sure up a playoff spot in the final stretch that sees the Tricolour at home for five of their final eight games.

Last weekend, the Gaels earned a road split defeating Ryerson 4-3 and falling to Toronto 1-0. Quinn Johnston had a two-point effort with a goal and an assist to lead the Gaels past Ryerson.

Heading into the weekend Queen's currently sits tied for seventh in the OUA standings but just two points back of fourth and five back of third.

The No.8 Gaels (15-5-0) play just one time this week as they travel to Montreal to take on a red-hot Concordia Stingers (12-7-1) team that has won three straight and eight of their last 10.

Queen's currently holds down second in the OUA East and are fending off both Carleton and McGill who are just two points behind the Gaels. Queen's is also just five points behind the East-leading Gee-Gees.

Last weekend the Gaels proved to be road Warriors with a pair of victories in Northern Ontario defeating Laurentian on Friday followed by Nipissing on Saturday. It was a big weekend for forward Slater Doggett (3-2—5) who was named the OUA male athlete of the week for his efforts.

After having not played an OUA match since November 24, the Gaels (5-4) will look to open up 2019 with a pair of wins as they head to Guelph (5-5) on Friday and visit No.6 Waterloo (9-0) on Saturday. Both matches are set for 6 pm.

The Gaels finished out the Fall term with three straight victories defeating York, Nipissing and Trent to improve to 5-4. Caroline Livingston had 13, 15 and 17 kills in each of those wins respectively and currently sits fifth in the OUA in total kills at 117.

Coming into 2019 with a national ranking of No.10, the Gaels (7-2) will look to keep their five-game winning streak alive as they visit the Guelph Gryphons (4-4) on Friday and the Waterloo Warriors (2-5) on Saturday with both matches set to start at 8 pm.

The Gaels last hit the court for an OUA match back in November but did get in some work at the York Excalibur Classic in early January. Queen's sits just two points behind the Toronto Varsity Blues for the top spot in the East but the Gaels also have a pair of games in hand.

The Gaels have had a balanced attack leading their success led by Zac Hutcheson who has 137 kills putting him third in the OUA, Joel Rudd whose 2.35 digs per set if fourth in the conference and setter Zane Grossinger who is averaging 9.54 assists per set and ranks third in Ontario as well.

The Gaels (9-5) hit the road to Ottawa this weekend to take on a pair of nationally ranked programs as they meet No.8 Carleton (11-3) on Friday and follow up with a match at No.6 Ottawa (12-2) on Saturday. Both games are set for 6 pm tip-offs.

The Gaels are coming off a home split that saw them defeat Toronto and lose out to the Ryerson Rams but both Carleton and Ottawa have suffered losses in recent weeks.

Last weekend in Sudbury the Ravens were upset by Laurentian and on January 6 it was the Rams defeating the Gee-Gees.

The Gaels currently hold down fourth in the OUA East and earning at least one victory would put them in the mix for a top three spot as the season winds down.

The Gaels currently hold down fourth in the OUA East and are chasing down the Gee-Gees for the third spot.

Both matches should be a defensive battle as Carleton sits first in the OUA in points allowed per game (56.9) while the Gaels are third (72.9) and Ottawa fifth (74.4).
