GAME OF THE WEEK
Cross Country
The OUA's cross country calendar gets kicked off this weekend when Queen's University hosts the Queen's Invitational. On Saturday, the OUA's top long-distance runners will compete in the first-leg of the season. The women's 8K race will begin at 12:00pm with the men's 8K race beginning at 1:00pm.

The Gaels are the defending OUA women's cross country champions and a strong start to the season could go a long way in their goal of repeating as provincial champions.

Fortunately for the Gaels, they will have Branna MacDougall back for the 2018 season. MacDougall had an unbelievable 2018 season as she racked in the post-season awards. She was named as the as the OUA's women's MVP, a first-team all-star as well as national honours as a first-team all-Canadian.

The races will be the first stepping stone towards the U SPORTS Championship which will be hosted here at Queen's in November.

Football
The Queen's football team (2-1) will head to Ottawa for a high-profile matchup with the No.8 Carleton Ravens (2-1). Game time is set for 1:00pm on Saturday, at MNP Park.

Men's Soccer
The Gaels men's soccer team is on a roll winning their last four games and outscoring their opponents 14-2 over that span. On Wednesday evening, the Gaels picked up a 5-0 win at home over cross-town rival RMC. It was a lopsided affair which included five goal from five different players.

Now, they must turn their attention to two very difficult matches this weekend. First, they square off with Toronto (3-2-0) on Saturday at 3:15pm at Richardson Stadium. After a 3-0 start, Toronto lost back-to-back games against Ryerson and Carleton to begin September. With both teams vying to enter the U SPORTS top-10, there will be much on the line when they meet.

Things won't get any easier for the Gaels as they welcome the No.6 Ryerson Rams (4-0-1) to Richardson Stadium on Sunday for a 3:15pm start. The defending OUA bronze medalists are off to hot start with their lone setback coming in a tie against the No.4 Carleton Ravens last weekend.

The games present the Gaels a massive opportunity to make some noise in the OUA standings and U SPORTS rankings. Admission is free for all fans who want to catch the must-see action.

Women's Soccer
After splitting a pair of games last weekend on the road, the No.7 Gaels will face off against cross-town rival RMC (0-3-1) in a home-and-home series.

The Gaels fell to the UOIT Ridgebacks last Friday after being held off the scoreboard 2-0. However, the offence showed no issues on Sunday as the Gaels were back to their old ways in a 7-2 win over Trent.

Now, the women's soccer team heads back to Kingston looking for a repeat performance from 2017 against the Paladins. Last season, the Gaels took both matchups 8-0 and 6-2 putting on a show for their hometown fans.

The first game will be held at 3:15pm on Saturday at RMC. On Sunday, the Gaels will host the Paladins at 1:00pm at Richardson Stadium. Admission to the Sunday game is free for all fans.

Women's Rugby
Last weekend, the No.7 Queen's Rugby team battled hard against the No.4 Guelph Gryphons but ultimately fell short on home turf 39-34. However, the team showed signs that they can keep pace the OUA's top-tier of talent. After trailing 29-5 at half, the Gaels rallied to bring the score to a one-possession game. However, time wasn't on their side as the final whistle blew and the comeback fell short.

Rachel Hickson had an outstanding performance with four tries on the afternoon. She, along with veterans Nadia Popov and Sophie de Goede will be the key factors that determine whether the Gaels can turn things around against McMaster.

Their focus shifts to the No.5 McMaster Marauders (1-0). The Gaels will travel to Hamilton for a meeting with the Marauders on Sunday at 12:00pm. The Marauders will have had over two weeks off since their opening win over York 57-12, meanwhile the Gaels have played on back-to-back weekends.

With playoff positioning already coming into play, the result between these two teams will play a huge factor into how the OUA's Shiels Division takes shape.

Men's Rugby
The Gaels men's rugby team (2-0) looks to continue their historic run when they play the Toronto Varsity Blues (0-2). Game time is set for 7:00pm on Saturday in Toronto.

Things looked scary for the Gaels last weekend as the Laurier Golden Hawks pushed them to their limits despite a Queen's 55-22 win. The Gaels only had a 10-7 lead at half before taking over in the second-half.

Now, they face Toronto who is off to a rough start to their 2018 campaign. After dropping their opening game to Brock 50-0, they fell to the RMC Paladins last weekend 41-7.
